The Appearance-Based Five Elements Constitution : Water Constiution
Individuals with a Water constitution walk with slightly protruding lips and a swaying motion. Because their appearance and qualities are similar to those of fish, they are referred to as "Water constitution" or "Fish-like constitution." They have a dark complexion in general, and their well-developed mouths appear to stick out. They have the habit of swinging their hips slightly when walking. People with this constitution are highly intelligent and are frequently complimented on their sharpness. Their movements may appear to be leisurely, but they are swift and readily startled. When considering fish behavior, this is easy to understand. When watching fish in an aquarium, they may appear stationary for long periods of time before suddenly swimming fast by rotating their bodies. Similarly, while their motions may appear lethargic at first, once they get started, they move swiftly and outperform others. Individuals with a Water constitution are also quite quiet and reserved. If something does not concern them, they will turn away coldly. While this may appear to be a negative trait, it is precisely because of this personality trait that they are known for their decisiveness and efficiency in work management.
Water is associated with the kidneys according to the Five Elements hypothesis. As a result, people with a Water constitution frequently suffer from a variety of kidney-related illnesses, depending on shortage or excess. They may have bloating, poor digestion, and difficulties passing stools, resulting in constipation. If they exert themselves even slightly, they quickly grow fatigued and experience back discomfort. They may complain of back ache, pain between the shoulder blades, and frequent bad breath. Common problems include insomnia and dizziness.
Water constitution people who are prone to kidney disease should avoid excessive sexual activity and heavy labor. Bathing in cold water after sweating or lying on damp ground for an extended period of time should also be avoided, since it might cause kidney damage and disease. It is beneficial to ingest herbs that resemble the shape of the kidneys, such as Wu Wei Zi (Schisandra chinensis), to warm and nourish the kidneys. Adzuki beans are also beneficial to the kidneys. Roasting chestnuts and eating them on a regular basis is good, as is cooking and eating black beans with salt. Consuming Shan Zhu Yu (Cornus officinalis) or boiling oysters is another alternative.
