Checking the stomach (胃) on the nose (鼻).

Below yintang (印堂) is called Shangen (山根) and it refers to the area between the eyes.

The nose is a place where the nasal fluid is accumulated and built up in the stomach. When it is built up too high and the nose is protruding, a recommended prescription is shíquándàbǔtāng (十全大補湯) .

The stomach is like a marketplace, and the root of the nose(山根) is the marketplace on the face. The marketplace is not located in a high place. When buying land, one should buy it in a low-lying area to seek a marketplace. If a woman's nose root is high, she will likely have stomach problems. This is because the marketplace or square where people gather and come down is not well-formed on the ground. If the root of the nose(山根) is high, it is believed that there are many gastrointestinal diseases. In such cases, the prescription used is mùxiāngbīnlángwán (木香檳榔丸) to help promote the flow of the triple butner (三焦).

If the square is too wide, people will tend to gather there but cannot easily leave. It can also be presumed that if the root of the nose is too wide, it may result in poor stomach function.
