2-1. flooding with dim vision.

Suddenly flooding occurs with dark vision of both eyes, feeling like falling down due to dizziness, and loss of consciousness. People consider that exuberant fire stirs blood. But this fire is not replete fire but deficient fire. People often tend to use medicines to stanch blood, this can produce effect temporarily but if herbs which supplements yin are not used, soon deficient fire easily impacts on blood, therforer whenever flooding stops, there is a fear of reoccurring of flooding. Then there will be no perfect recover enven though a few months and years pass. This cannot be treated with only herbs that stanch blood. Definitely blood –stanching herbs are used in the middle of supplementing yin. Guard the Root and Stanch Flooding Decoction (固本止崩湯, Ge Ben Zhi Beng Tang) is used.

Decoct the herbs with water. Taking of one Ji () makes flooding stanch, taking of 10 Ji () make flooding not to reoccur. If one reduses the dose to half with a fear of the heaviness of herbs, the force of herbs get weak, leading not to stanch flooding. The exquisiteness of this formula is not in composing with only blood-stanching herbs but in supplemeting blood. And this formula supplements not only blood but also qi. Also this formula supplente not only qi but also fire. Dark vision and dizziness due to flooding indicates that blood is lost too much. This should be protected and retained. If one does not engender blood through supplemenint qi rapidly but losts qi through supplementing blood first, there is a worry  that blood that is tangible cannot engender rapidly. And the qi which is intangible will gets dispersed. This is the reason that blood should be supplemented first than qi. But if one just supplements qi, it is hard to engender blood easily. If only blood is supplemeted but fire is not, blood will become congealed, therefore blood cannot engender rapidly. Hei Gan conducts blood to turn back to the channel.
